Jalandhar, April 16| In a major crackdown on cross-border narcotics smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF), in collaboration with the Special State Operations Cell (SSOC) Fazilka, apprehended three Indian narco-smugglers and seized 2 kilograms of heroin in Fazilka, while recovering a drone carrying 536 grams of heroin in Amritsar within the last 24 hours.

In the first incident, acting on intelligence from the BSF, a joint operation was conducted on the Fazilka-Ferozepur road on the evening of April 15. Around 9:15 pm, BSF troops and SSOC Fazilka personnel spotted three suspects, including a female, on a motorcycle attempting to flee. After a chase, the trio, residents of Gurkha and Hasta Kalan villages in Fazilka district, was apprehended near Rana village. A search revealed 2 kilograms of suspected heroin wrapped in yellow adhesive tape. The suspects were handed over to SSOC Fazilka for further investigation to uncover their network.

In a separate operation early on April 16, BSF troops, guided by intelligence, conducted a search in Amritsar’s border area. At approximately 6:40 am, they recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone carrying 536 grams of suspected heroin in a harvested field near Dhanoa Khurd village. The narcotics packet, also wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, was attached with a ring and two illuminating sticks.

These operations highlight the BSF’s vigilance and coordination with local agencies in curbing smuggling along the Punjab border. The Public Relations Officer, Punjab Frontier, BSF, emphasized the force’s unwavering commitment to securing the nation’s borders and combating cross-border crime.
